Who Do You Trust?

“Trust in the Lord with all your Heart and lean not to your own understanding.”
Proverbs 3:5

The above question calls each of us to a “Time Out” from the usual myriad of thoughts rambling around in our heads. It calls us to a place of introspection, of self examination. When we are able to sit down and “turn on the lights” of our own hearts we are then able to see clearly where we are placing our trust.

People “trust” in all sorts of things. People trust in Organizations. People trust in Other People. People trust in Horoscopes, in Education, in Money, in Casinos, in their jobs, families and in Doctors.

God knew people would need to trust in something. So He gave them a book about who to trust in. The answer is HIM. We are to trust in HIM. Is that easy?
Not always.
The greatest reason that this is not always easy is that God requires us to trust Him BEYOND what we can see and Understand with OUR NATURAL MIND & SENSES!

Years ago I used to wonder why God seemed to always “hide” things from us. Now I understand more every day that it happens that way so we can exercise “faith”, that is the application of believing in what we cannot see or fathom to be in the natural mind or senses.

It is the difference between true believers and marginal believers.

It can sometimes be the difference between life and death.

We can fulfill our destinies in Christ Jesus…. If we Trust in God with all our heart and lean not to our own understanding!

Psalms 37 says “Commit your way unto the Lord…TRUST ALSO in HIM and HE WILL BRING IT TO PASS.” (vs. 5).

Psalms 56:3 says “What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.”

I have been afraid many times in my life. If you have read any of my writings on the Healing Hearts website you know I suffered from serious depressive illness for many years and was told I would never live outside a hospital. I knew much fear and discovered I could not always trust doctors to bring about healing. I knew there was a Higher Power, and I had known of this Higher Power since I was a child.

My Higher Power was Jesus Christ. Even though I knew of Him, I only began to realize I could actually Trust Him when I began to increase my listening to the word of God. This makes sense because scripture says, “Faith comes by Hearing and Hearing by the Word of God.” (Romans 10:17)

This is a statement that can change a life.
It doesn’t even have to be believed in.

If you hear the word of God preached and you continue to listen to the word of God being preached, simply because the Bible contains this scripture, it will truly come to pass! Your faith will begin to Increase!

Trust is not dependent on outward circumstances. It happens when you know a person and you realize they love you and that you can believe what they say. It is a heart to heart connection, not a brain to brain connection.

Trust is something that Jesus Christ is able to develop in each of us who believe. He helps us come to the realization that we matter to Him, that we are precious in His Sight. There is no one else who cares for us, loves us and forgives us like Jesus does.

He is able to take us beyond ourselves, beyond our circumstances, beyond our abilities, beyond our self centered world and into the supernatural realms of His Love ! He is there for us when no one else is. He is our “husband” when there is no husband. He is our brother when there is no brother. He is our Father when there is no father. He is the Bridge between our pain and the Healing of God. He is Christ the Healer. He is Christ the Bridegroom. He is Christ the Son of the Living God who meets every need, even those we don’t know we have. No matter who is not there for us, no matter how ineffective a relationship is, or how lonely we are without a relationship, Jesus Christ is there. He is able to fill the gap. He is the answer to the loneliness, to the confusion, to the anxiety and the rage inside.

Trust Him.
He is to be trusted.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus help us in our times of need. Help us to turn our eyes upon You and to Trust in Who You Are. When we ask ourselves the question “Who do you trust?” let us be able to answer “I trust in Jesus Christ, the Risen Lord.” Help us to be wise not in our own eyes but in the light of your Word and in our weakness, Lord Jesus, please, please be our strength. Amen.
